I Am Trying To Find A Carburetor Diaphragm For A 1981 Yamaha Xs 400 Special?
Well i am what that title is saying. looking for a 1981 yamaha xs 400 special carburetor diaphragm. i bought it a few weeks ago. i got the bike for 500$. the condition for it is great. he didn 't tell me until after i won the bid that their was something wrong with the carburetor and it will need to be checked within then next 100miles. well that time has passed and i am looking for that part. checked everywhere and i cannot find anything. if you can help me out i would be thankful. take care. My buddy calls himself a mech but he only fools himself. he had a '81 xs eleven special that he never worked on or touched so it sat for almost a year. i bought it from him for $350. it pretty much needs a carb rebuild and new battery. i 've checked everything else but the charging system. what i really wanna know is does it hold any "historical value " or should i just get it running and road worthy to sell. I want to get them in order to get back the 5-10 horsepower i am losing running straight pipes. so far i have had no luck finding any so i need some help. can anyone point me in the right direction or even bettter tell me where i can find these or even fabricate them? thanksi mean power cones that insert into ur exhaust, like you can do with harleys and other bikes (Read answers)
Yamaha Xs 250 1981,problem?
Hi, i removed my alternator cover to find out why my starter was sticking,and as i got to the last bolt,litres of oil came pouring out.i don 't think this is normal for all this oil to be in with the electrical,it was obviously swimming in oil,......anyone got any ideas.thanks (Read answers)

So i have an old 1979 xs 650 and it has been sitting for years. i threw a new bat. in it and everything seems to be lighting up. i 'm hitting the electric start and it is working but there seems to be no spark. i am trying to figure out what is going on here. can somebody help? is this the coils, people say they are a little crapy.put new oiland i put new gas (Read answers)

I 've got a 1979 yamaha xs 750. fuel is delivered, spark is good on 1 and 3, but no spark on 2. new plugs and wires are in. more than that, don 't know. just got the bike. is presumably preventing the bike from turning over, but there may be more issues. anyone familiar with this breed of bike? Hi, How To Lower Idle And Adjust Carbs? 79 Yamaha Xs 400 Idles At 3800 After Cleaing Carbs.?
Bike wouldnt start then i cleaned carbs and it started right up, but idles at 3800 - 4000... please i dont know what settings to set the carbs and i kinda need the bike running good asap. i messed with the idle control and not much difference and also the throttle cable. please. thanks!last night the bike started right up but with the idle of 3800. now this other issue... took off carbs again too look at em but didnt take em apart. hooked them back up except this time without the filters on. and it took a while to start up, finally it did and idle was at 1000. but.... headlight flickering, and when the throttle is pulled it sputters and stalls. battery is also no good now. so if the batt is the reason why the bike is idleing lower now and lights flikering and i replace it, i dont know if the high idle will still be there?weird how last night idle was high but lights and all were great, now this. im just thinking that once we solve this, the first issue with high idle with still be there heh.ok so bought new batt and started bike up and idle was at 1000, and even after reveing it went back down to 1000. later started bike and gave it a rev and idle stays again at 3800 (Read answers)
1979 Yamaha Xs 1100 Special Problem At Higher Rpm?
I have a 79 yamaha xs 1100 special. i have a problem at higher rpm. depending on the gear i 'm in the bike has a rough section of rpm. in the lower three gears it will come out of it and run up to max rpm fine. in the top two it will not accelerate thru the rough area. i have put on new mac 4 into 2 turnout exhaust. i have put 2 sizes bigger main jets in and have adjusted the cam chain tensioner. i have checked the timing and replaced the spark plugs. the bike starts to run rough at about 5000 rpm in the lower gears it comes out about 6500 rpm. other than that it starts great and runs great.
